Job Overview
A 3‑Axis VMC Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) to produce precision components. The role demands strong technical knowledge of CNC machining, ability to interpret engineering drawings, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Independently operate 3‑axis VMC machines
Perform start‑up, referencing, and shutdown procedures.
Load CNC programs, execute dry runs, and monitor cutting operations.
Read and interpret 2D mechanical drawings and 3D CAD models.
Apply tolerances, fits (H7, g6), datum references, and surface finish requirements.
Perform face milling, pocketing, profiling, drilling, tapping, and reaming.
Select correct spindle speeds and feeds based on material and tooling.
Identify and correct machining issues like chatter, poor finish, or tool wear.
Quality & Measurement
Conduct first‑off inspection and in‑process checks using vernier, micrometer, dial indicator, and height gauge.
Maintain tolerances up to ±0.01 mm.
Document inspection results and production records.
Safety & Discipline
Follow machine safety protocols and interlocks.
Maintain clean workstations and report abnormalities immediately.
Ensure compliance with job cards and process sheets.
Education: ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Tool & Die, or CNC Machining.
Salary: 20000 to 35000
Experience: 1.5–3 years in operating 3‑axis VMC machines.
